Banana jacket from Hubby 8 years ago when we dated. Black jacket is simply just elegant and classic in my book. Still loving it today.
I don't think these boots goes well with this outfit, oh well, nothing wrong with experimenting ;)

When Kaylee was about 5-6 Months, I lost a lot of hair! I was shredding so much I thought something was wrong me, to find out that it's normal to shred after having a baby. Whew! In need to find a stylish by the end of this month! Look to those baby hair!

For those who do celebrate the Chinese/Vietnamese New Year, Happy New Year (Chúc Mừng Năm Mới, Kung Hei Fat Choy) I have been cleaning for the past few days so that we will have good fortune and health for the upcoming year! We are not allow to clean or do laundry on the day of or else the whole year will come with misfortunes and hardships. Asians are so superstitious, we try to avoid things so badluck does not find us and we follow it greatly around the Lunar New Year. :D

Over the weekend, we welcome the year of the Dragon with good tradition food and surrounded ourselves with close friends.

Here are some interesting Lunar New Year superstitions I gather online:

Stay positive and do not wish ill on others. We should welcome the Lunar New Year with positive energy.

Many people believe that on New Year's Day washing hair is not allowed because it would have washed away good luck for the New Year. Wearing new clothes represent the new that you want to be bringing into your life. Put on something red for an extra boost! Don't wear white or black clothing, since they are the traditional colours of mourning.

Do not sweep or clean your house on the day of new year, you certainly do not want to sweep away all your wealth and good fortune, an disorganized home means an empty pocket or a loss of promotion.

Avoid breaking things, crying and wailing on the first day of the year, if you don't want to continue the pattern for the entire year.

Pay your bills and loans before New Year, so you don't have any debt left for New Year.

It is considered unlucky to greet anyone in their bedroom so that is why everyone, even the sick, should get dressed and sit in the living room.

Chinese believe it’s bad to start the New Year by swearing, yelling at the kids, or getting angry or upset. Bad mood is taboo. Watching funny movies or interesting programs is a good idea.Everyone should refrain from using foul language and bad or unlucky words. Don't quarrel!

Clean the car! This is what gets you around during the year.
Interesting facts: Buddha called called all animals to come to him before departing earth but only 12 animals came. As a reward he named a lunar new year after each according to the arrival of the animal.

This is what I have been sporting to work lately, statement necklace, blazer and assortment of bracelets. This year I am hoping to wear more heels, every since I had Kaylee I have been wearing a lot of flats. Need to "learn" how to walk in heels all over again, Cheers to walking tall this year!

Random fact of the day: The last time I got a cut was back in fall 2010! I have been growing out my hair for the past 2 years! I think it's time for a cut soon. ha! Happy Wednesday!

I am not much of a thrifter simply because I never have much luck finding anything unique or cool there. Hubby and decided to go on Saturday and it was such a fun experience looking through all the vintage and decorations. I love browsing through the accessories and ended up buying couple necklaces that I am now swoon over! We went to CHKD and I love the thought of giving back to the kids as we buy second hand items. 2011 Reflections

1:: THE day Kaylee was born absolutely best day of 2011, ok maybe my life. I am embracing motherhood and will continue to learn, explore and grow as a mother.

2:: A lot of design brainstorming went into this room and so glad hubby and I pulled it together just int time for Kaylee's arrival. The nursery reveal got the most hits for 2011 also!

3:: Ran 8K and a 10K after having a baby! woo-hoo!

4:: Got a new Camera and lens, read the manual book, did photography research and now loving and embracing photography. Even did maternity shoot, couple engagements and of course a lot of baby shoots with Kaylee.

5:: Travelled alone with a baby for the first time and don't think I will ever travel without the hubs again.

6:: Took me exactly 9 months to get back to my pre-baby weight.

1:: I am looking forward to this year since it's the year I will be turning the 3-0!!!

2:: Looking forward to running another 8K and 10K..maybe half marathon?(nah maybe 2013)

3:: Take a roadtrip somewhere with whole family.

4:: Open up Etsy or start a small photography business

5:: Clean and organize office (it's a jungle in there!) Organize hallway closet and master closet.

6:: Give Kaylee the best 1st birthday ever!

7:: Give doggies more attention and walk them often.

8:: Smile everyday, walk with confident and give people hugs :D

Awesome way to start out the new year with our friends, 2012 Kiss to our baby girl, yummy homemade delish spicy beef soup{bun bo hue} for this cold weather and fried banana ice cream!! Kaylee also turned 10 Months over the weekend and she is still the cutest, most lovable little girl ever. Always laughing and smiling with her big brown eyes. We had Monday off so Baby and I spent the day cleaning, watch Sesame Street and putting down the Christmas decorations. { I always get sad when putting the Christmas Decor away }

Couple weeks ago I had the honor of being a bridesmaid to my friend's wedding. Her wedding was absolutely beautiful and I'm so glad that I got the chance to be part of her special day. I have known the bride since college and she's has always been there for me when I needed someone to talk to. After 7 years together with her bf, so glad to see the beautiful couple tied the knot!

Some photos were taken by me and a lot of them were taken by my friend since I was in the wedding.

So glad she trusted me to do her makeup for her. She looked so beautiful in her traditional Vietnamese dress.

My Little Rainbow

at 9 Months I can finally announce Kaylee is sleeping in her crib! (happy dance) Well it has only been 5 nights but it's better each night. We (ok I) must learn to not run to her each time she cries or want to be held. On the first night we put her in the crib, she cried on and off for a good hour and then finally stopped. I went into the nursery to check up on her and saw that she was sleeping standing up! yes..sleeping standing up! Silly baby.

If you are in Minneapolis area, you have to check out this cute lil boutique called Patina! I still can't get over how everything sparkles when you first step into the store. I love the vibrant colors and the decorations just set you right into the christmas spirit. They also gift wrap your things for free too!

I really miss the cold snowy weather! It's so difficult to be in the Christmas mood when it's sunny and 70 outside in Virginia! It doesn't get cold until January and February here.

My Family

Home is where the heart is, and that's where my heart will always be. Having my own family, I truly understand the concept of family and how precious and valuable my family is. I never lost that concept, but makes me even more appreciative of my parents and siblings. Being home for a week with my family definitely warm my heart after two years being away from home. I am forever grateful of them and love them all to pieces!

My oldest sister

My youngest sister who is a fashion journalist for 605magazine back in South Dakota. I just want to share what she wrote about my dad.

Broken at so many times, obstacles from the Vietnam war, my dad had the path of death ahead of him when he was captured an imprisioned fromt the War, had two options. 1. Die. 2. or try to wait and live and hopefully the war will be over. (little hope)
He choose option 2. Bullet wounds, skin and bones, malnourished, and a broken spirit. My mom was raising at the time 5 siblings, my brother passed away somewhere in his twenties. Has two beautiful children and today they are 21 and 16. Phuc Tran, and Hanh Tran, Together the names mean ( Hanh Phuc: Happiness) My family came to America, 20 years ago. A Dream to give a life that their children will have everything that they never got growing up. Esther, my other super hero, my "grandma" She helped my family, with lots of language barriers, our family had nothing. Blessed, and I think about her everyday. Thank you Esther, my angel.
Anyways, my family came with a dream, America. A land of opportunities. I wasn't born yet. Still in my Mommy's tummy. I didn't know that in my mom's tummy that what I was going to face was a life that most people back in my country would die for. I want to keep this short, but I could literally write a novel about my parents.
They came from nothing, aboslutely nothing.
Wanted to give their children a home, food, and education.
Growing up, I didn't understand.. I was born and raised in SD, not a lot of asians. "Why can't I be white like all the other kids." Didn't fit in and didnt' want to do anything with my culture.
I laugh now, I am so grateful to have my strong Vietnamese culture, so BLESSED.
Anyways, back to my parents, they had nothing, gave up everything for their children. ABSOLUTE everything for their kids. My parents are getting old and sick, still working.. 65, and 70, but why? because I'm in college. That's why I have mulitple jobs, "RETIRE MOM AND DAD, I'M FINE!" This simply showcases that my life growing up was the best ever because not of my material things, but rather parents who simplied just ... loved me.
My inspiration in life. My heros. I will always, ALWAYS, love them and to one day.. One day.. look at an audience crowd and share my story.

Minneapolis Bound

I'm back!! Just want to share some photos from my trip back home. Kaylee and I (without the hubby) flew back to Minneapolis for a good friend's wedding. We had such an amazing time in Minneapolis despite of the cold weather there. I took over 1000 photos from the trip and can't wait to edit and share them all! This is just part 1 of the trip.

Well Hello there! I have been a little MIA lately because I am back at my hometown. It has been two years since I have been back to Minnesota and South Dakota so I am trying to soak it all up and cherish each moment with my family. Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of shooting an engagement photoshoot for lovely couple, we went to the Zoo and it was my first time at the Virginia Zoo. The scenery and weather was simply perfect for the occasion, except it was a little windy at first. (Cant wait until baby K is a bit older so we can take her to the Zoo to see the giraffe!)
I met Nate through work so I was really excited when him and his fiance had asked me do their photos! They did such a great job and felt so comfortable with the camera!

8 Months and counting

My sweet baby is growing so fast! Crawling everywhere now and I have to constantly keeping my eyes on her. Already trying to chase the doggies, too bad they are too fast for her hehe
I am not ready for the daylight saving this Sunday (except I could use an hour of sleep) I'm not fond of going home at 4PM and it's already dark outside. It's going to be hard taking photos of Kaylee indoor since I don't have an exterior flash.

Not big difference in size from Month 7-Month 8 and she is eating well too. She can now stand on the chair on her own and is not afraid of falling! Daring little girl! I had a conversation with this one lady the other day and the whole time, I kept saying..uhuh, yeah, oh ok because she was telling me what my baby should eat and how she know it all since she went through it with her first child. Do you get annoyed when people tell you how to raise your child or give you their 2 cents when you didn't asked.

On Saturday I ran my first 10K and it was tough!!! The weather was in the 40s that morning and it started to rain right when I saw the finish line. I had a good time and definitely will do another 10K in the near future. Great way to lose the weight too! My incredible little girl came out to support mommy, it was so cold that we had to leave right after the race.

Yay I survived! Wish we took more photos though.

I didnt have a costume for work so I did a quick vampire makeup in honor of Breaking Dawn movie coming out soon.

I was not excited for Target Missoni when it was launched last month plus everything was completely gone when I went to a local Target a week after the launch. I was not disappointed since there wasn't anything that caught my eyes...BUT I am super excited for November 19th Versace for HM though!!! My favorite is the the leather jacket!

Looking back } Halloween

Halloween is just around the corner and I am really excited about Halloween this year! I think being a mother simply changes everything, the things that you never get giddy over is now something you look forward to. What are you dressing up as this year? I having been looking religiously at pinterest to find the perfect halloween costumes for Kaylee, and I think this year I going to try to make it! Although we have no plans for Halloween since it's on a Monday, it'll be fun to dress up to take pictures and for memories.

Our Lil Panda Bear

Hope you had a lovely weekend! The weather in East Coast has been beautiful, it was nice and sunny on Saturday so we took our little panda bear out along with the doggies to get some exercise. I am doing an engagement photoshoot next weekend so I wanted to take my camera out to test few shots in the daylight. Kaylee volunteered to be my model of the day.

Little Corner of our home

Flowers from our friend's garden, aren't they beautiful? They were suppose to be for her wedding but it didn't bloom until last week and her wedding was back in July! I believe they are dahlias flowers.

Stocking up on Fall clothing for baby K. Our friends and family has been so kind in gifting K with all beautiful clothes, this was our first clothing shopping for K!

This chair was in the master bedroom but we had to transfer it into the nursery so K can see us if she in the crib. Plus we have been spending so much time in the nursery it's nice to have a comfy chair in there.

She absolutely love these 3 little doggies! When she is able to walk, I can see her chasing them around the house!

I bought these Madden Girl boots couple weeks ago at Ross for just $25 and I wasnt sure if I was going to keep them. I got them mostly because it's so cheap and love the dark brown color. I wore them for the first time yesterday and it's probably the best cheap boots I bought in a long time. I love hunting down bargain deals!

Right now Forever 21 is having a buy one get one free online or in store! I got this shirt at f21 on sale when they didnt have the buy one get one free 3 weeks ago, darn! Can you believe the size is a XL! I love big huge sweaters over tight jeans.

Have you ever taken photos and your like..ehh these pictures are just blah, not planning on posting them on the blog. Well these photos you are about to see are not my favorite but whatever, I want to share all my photos even if they are not great. These pictures were taken last Friday when the weather was just cloudy and windy. The weird thing is that there was a security guy looking at us while we are taking photos..talk about awkward! I am still not comfortable having my photos taken outdoor in crowded area and I usually go to a place more subdued or not too many people looking.

Remember this post where I was talking about putting Kaylee in her crib so mommy can have some rest at night? well she's 7 Months and 2 weeks and still sleeping on our bed. Maybe we are not as strict on her since she is our first child but I literary run to her every time she cry when she in the crib. During the day, Hubby have to sleep on the floor next to the crib just so she can see him and she'll be fine. :/ ahh the mistake of putting her on our bed since we brought her home from the hospital.

I bought the little lamb hat at Target for just $10! they have really cute baby hats there! She's going to be needing it when we travel back to midwest next month. It's cold there!

Fall Cleaning

It's so nice to finally clean our house. Before we had Kaylee, I made our bed everyday and try to keep the room organized. Now with having an infant, that is just impossible to do. Over the weekend we had our carpet professionally cleaned and had to rearranged the furniture around so Kaylee have room to craw. Feels great to come home to nice and clean home for once! I will be sharing an update on the nursery and our living room next week! How often do you make your bed and clean your house?

I made Kaylee a baby book and it finally arrived yesterday! I have so many photos of her so I thought it would be great to make a baby book of her for the first 6 months. I will be doing another book from 7 months to 1 year. We're planning on having our close friends and family write a message for Kaylee in the back too!

Although I did not get today off from work, I did find some pretty sweet deals at the mall over Columbus Day weekend sale. I bought this pretty orange dress for about $12 and F21 belt for just $3! The color of the dress is simply perfect for Fall weather. I love layering two scarves together when it's chilly in the morning.

How often do you shop? I think my friends and even co-workers have the idea that I shop a lot. In fact I only shop when there is a really good sale! I don't like to spend a lot of money on clothes since styles changes and it's not really where you buy your clothes but what you buy. I can wear this dress in the summer time without the cardigan and pair it with nice sandals. Overall this $12 dress is a good investment in my opinion:) I rather spend my money on food, Kaylee or a good designer classic purse that will last forever. What about you?

Teddy Bear Love

There's just something about a Teddy Bear that's impossible to explain. When you hold one in your arms, you get a feeling of love, comfort and security. It's almost supernatural.
I was born in Vietnam so I never had a teddy bear until I moved to the states. In fact my very first doll was when I was around 8 and I had my very first birthday party at age 9. Growing up in our family, you don't complain about what you don't have but should be grateful for everything that you do have. I may not have all the cool toys as a kid or newest, greatest clothes, I was still a happy and grateful little girl growing up. I learn to be more creative with what I have and I think with my past, it made me who I am today. I am so grateful for everything that we do have today and will continue to teach our baby girl that important things in life cant buy with money.
This lil munchkin make us feel grateful and blessed each day.

Mommy no longer have to help you sit up and you seem to know the drill once mommy put you in the white chair for your monthly photoshoot. You are growing up so beautiful in mommy and daddys eyes and cant wait for what the further hold for the three of us, and of course our doggies too! xoxo

My sweet friend got me this beautiful Lush chiffon kimono sleeve dress for my birthday and I am in head over heels for it. I love pairing it with a statement necklace for a nice contrast against the mustard color. The colors, the jacket just scream out FALL for me. I bought this jacket dress in Soho NYC couple years ago and I always get so excited to wear it. One of my favorite piece transitioning from summer to fall.

Photoshoot with DCPG } Behind the Shoot

Couple weeks ago, Kaylee had her 6M photoshoot with our newborn photographers The DCPG. They offer Baby Steps Plan which includes newborn session, 3 Month, 6 Month, and 1 year session. I can not believe we did 3 sessions already! Next one is in March for her 1 year session. When I was pregnant I wanted to find someone to capture Kaylee first few weeks because I know they grow so fast. I am really glad that we went with a professional rather me doing her shoot right after giving birth!

For her 6 Month shoot Kaylee was a fussy baby since we had to wake her up in the car. It was mommy's fault for not putting her to sleep earlier that day. Overall baby K did a great job at the shoot and the photographers did an awesome job capturing her facial expressions. All the bug bites was worth it!

Happy first day of Fall! Taking the dogs out for a walk with our new Boba Classic Carrier that we bought from Zulily!

We just bought a baby carrier for Kaylee and it's the best purchase ever! Such a bonus that Kaylee loves it too. We now can just walk around the store without having to worry about pushing the stroller and the grocery cart! Hubby and I would fight on who get to push Kaylee and I always lose!

I giggle everytime he's carrying her since I keep thinking about the movie The Hang Over!

Glimpse into our Weekend

Thank you so much everyone for all the lovely congrats on our anniversary. We had a lovely and simply sweet anniversary over the weekend. Although we didn't do anything extravagant, somehow this year was more special because we have Kaylee to spend the day with. (last year we went to Vegas and had a blast!)

This HM dress was a perfect outfit for our luncheon date on Friday. The butterflies inside of me fluttering everytime I think of our small lil family.

Hubby and I went to a seafood restaurant for our anniversary dinner. They have the best corn bread ever! I gained so much weight from pigging out all weekend!

Our Wedding Day

Today marks our 2nd anniversary. 2 ceremonies and 1 reception. All the planning were done out-of-state and believe me, it was stressful! I can name all the things that I would redo but at the end of the day, everything was simply perfect. It was simple and humble wedding.

If you get to know my husband, he is known for being funny and he can definitely lighten up a room. He may not be the most romantic guy out there but he does try at times. I love him for being himself and for his honesty...sometimes too honest :). He is the perfect father to Kaylee also, which is always a bonus!

It's funny that we live so close to the beach but we hardly ever go. Over labor day weekend our little family took a stroll along the boardwalk. The weather was perfect as can be. Goodbye hot humid weather, hello breezy fall.

I can not believe summer is ending and fall is slowly approaching. Every year I look forward to the month of September. The cool breeze creeping upon us in as we welcome the changing colors of the leaves and of course the warmer clothes. September holds a special place in my heart because hubby and I share our bday this month and also our wedding anniversary. 8 years ago, I met him on this month too. :)

Kaylee is already at month 6 and she is growing beautifully. Here she is in her montly picture.

Every month I have been documenting her growth by placing her in this same white chair.

She can now know how to work the chair..dont need to tell her how to pose ;)

I survived my first hurricane in the East Coast. Luckily there were no damages in our neighborhood and we had no power for only 1 night. Actually the only damage was gaining few pounds from eating way too much on Saturday because I was so nervous about the storm! Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone effected by the storm. Thanks everyone for thinking of us over the weekend.

Red Polka Dots

This week has been a crazy week. We had an unexpected earthquake on Tuesday and let's be honest, it freaked me out! The lights on ceiling was moving back and forth and I was getting really dizzy. I work on 16th floor and September 11 was flashing through my mind. All I could think of at that moment was to grab all my things and run down 16 flights of stairs. The whole building was evacuated and we didn't know that it was a 5.9 earthquake until we were outside. We couldn't call anyone because all phone lines were down. I couldnt reach my husband to make sure that him and Kaylee were safe. Thanks goodness for Facebook because that was my only way of contacting him at the moment. I came home and gave Kaylee many kisses that day.

Now that I'm over the earthquake, I have to think about the hurricane this weekend. We are looking at Cat. 2 and it will reach our area on Sunday at 2am with approx. over 100mph! Yikes! We got a letter from our CEO saying this is a serious storm and that we should take tomorrow off to prepare for it. So I am blogging a bit early so that I can spend all day tomorrow cleaning up the house and getting ready for Irene..so bring it on Irene!!!

Daddy was home during her weekly shoot and she was a happy girl!

This happens all the time, Coco would butt in to try to get my attention while I'm taking photos of Kaylee. Kaylee doesnt seem to mind though.

She's always smiling and laughing every time the dogs are around.

She also love touching them but our chihuahua doesn't like it at all. He doesnt like to sit too close to her as you can see lol

When we broke the news to Kaylee about earthquake and hurricane all in one week, she was pretty shocked too!

Home Inspiration

Hubby and I are thinking about refinancing our home this week since we bought our house back in 2008 and the interest rate few years ago was crazy high. The problem we are having right now is..is it worth refinancing if we are only planning to stay at our home for another 3-4 years? By all means we love our home, but 3 bedrooms may not be big enough for us when Kaylee is older. We want to start looking for our next home right before Kaylee start pre-K so that we can get her into a good school district. argh so much to think about! I get so bored when reading about escrow, principal, and interest rates. :)

Mustard Love

Most of my outdoor photos are taken by friends or hubby. On Saturday, I ventured outside to take some outdoor shoots. I failed miserably! What I got out from that shoot was a big huge mosquito bite on my hand! :X grr. so for the sake of my skin, I went back inside to take photos of my outfit :D I might try again once I find a secluded place so that I won't be so weird about taking pictures of myself lol

I have been searching forever for a plain long mustard cardigan. Just last week, I saw it at F21 and I was pretty happy..and for just $11, I was doing the happy dance!Such an awkward pose! I bought this dress at f21 forever ago and it's actually one of my favorite dress to wear to work. I remember it being super cheap and I have worn this dress so many times that it's sorta my go to dress.

I work in a corporate environment, sitting in front of a computer screen about 9 hours a day and I can actually say that I don't mind at all. Once in awhile I do get burnt out and need to get out to feel the breeze. Luckily for me, I work downtown so I don't have to worry too much of where to go. On a nice day, I love walking few blocks over to the waterside and enjoy the nice breeze from the ocean.

I can't believe it is already Wednesday. This week has gone by so quick! Hope your week is going fab-u-lous!

I just became an iphone owner not too long ago and I am in love with it. I don't always have my camera with me so this lil device is so handy! We had such an awesome weekend, it was filled with napping, frozen yogurt, running errands and a lot of cleaning. Lazy weekend is needed once in awhile.

Being a parent is a full time job. When I get home from work, I am exhausted but still have to do laundry, clean and make sure baby Kaylee is happy and smiling. This week I got Kaylee a bumbo and boy am I glad I did! I can finally do laundry and cook without have to worry about Kaylee rolling over or dogs running all over her :D Put her in a bumbo and ta-da..happy baby!

This week has been one of those stressful week for me..I am so glad it's Friday! Is it hot where you are at? It's 108 outside right now! crazzyyyyy!! Have a great cool weekend!

Traditional Vietnamese Wedding

We recently went to a traditional Vietnamese wedding over the weekend. Hubby was the groomsmen and he was kind of nervous about wearing the traditional dress since he never wore one before and wasn't sure if he would look goofy in them. The wedding was emotional and beautiful and hubby look pretty cute in his ao dai. :D

Since the husband was helping out with the wedding, I could only snap few pictures here and there. I love weddings because it is such a beautiful event and also an excuse to get dolled up for Kaylee and I.

Kaylee had a lot of love from friends so that mommy can run around taking pix.

I love traditional Vietnamese wedding since it's filled with a lot of bright colors. Our wedding was traditional and also westernized. You can view pix from our wedding day here

Being a parent has been a blessing to me. As im looking at my child playing on the bed with her fingers, I wish that I could freeze time so I can cherish this moment forever.

Been obsessed with making headbands! She pretty much got one in every color ^_^

Her laughter and smile just brighten up the room.

Looking at all the photos of my baby, it makes me want to fly home and hug my parents. It breaks my heart every time they talk about how old they are :(

The husband recently got me a new camera, Canon t3i here is the post. I have been playing around with the manual mode option on the video and I did a lil video of Kaylee.

I know I haven't been able to update my blog much since I have been so busy. Hopefully by next week things will slow down a bit so I can sit back and relax..and blog :0) Have a great weekend!

I spent my whole Sunday doing laundry, cleaning and organizing. I have been meaning to organize my jewelry for quite some time now but never got around it. Putting away the ones that I don't normally wear into boxes and leaving out the ones I wear the most for work or going out. How do you organize your jewelry? When I was pregnant with Kaylee, I did not purchase any maternity clothes at all! Here's a post I did of maternity fashion on some clothes I wore. I just didn't want to spend a lot of money on clothes that I would wear for short period of time. I would dig through my closet and wore whatever I could fit..or buy regular dresses that I know I can wear after having a baby.

My ~~big~~ little black H&M dress I wore throughout my pregnancy. I know you cant really tell, but my tummy was HUGE!

4 months after baby. Best $15 I spent EVER haha!

Baby K just recently turned 4 months. I have been taking a photo of her sitting in this white chair every month. See month 1-3 here. I got the idea from Making It Lovely.

I always look forward to July 4th weekend because
1. 3 day weekend! Time to clean the closet and make more headbands for baby girl
2. Fireworks!
3. Transformers 3!!!! anyone seen it? do you love it? hate it? Im excited to see the new girl since I was not a fan of Megan Fox at all!!
4. Spending time with friends and family + FOOD!
5. Last but not least..the crazy sale at the mall! I got a cardigan for $3 at Loft and other goodie stuff!

I got this dress at H&M for just $10. The funny thing is that I see it all the time at the store but never care to even set my eyes on it until it's on sale :D haha!

I finally got around to posting these pictures of my sister and I when she was in town few weeks ago. We both took Kaylee to the DCPG photoshoot that day and took advantage of the nice weather to do some photos of ourselves too.
Yes..you can say it, we look alike. We get that ALOT.

This sweet little girl ran up to Kaylee and I and wanted me to carry her. She was super cute so we just had to take a pix of her with us.

What did we do after the shoot?? we went for some Red Ribbon Bakeshop! (their Mango Cake is so delish!)

Wish I can draw...

I found this beautiful drawing online couple weeks ago and thought to myself "gosh I wish I drew it!" I use to draw back when I was young but it has been so long that I'm just not very good anymore. I don't know who is the original artist is because I would love to give credit to them.

I took the drawing into photoshop and play around with it. I'm going to print it out and put it in the nursery. =)

btw on a different note, last Friday I was browsing through Parents.com and submitted a photo of kaylee for fun on one of their contest..this morning I got an email saying Kaylee is in the finalist for this week winners. Photoshoot Behind the Scenes

Last week Kaylee had her 3rd month photoshoot with the awesome local photographers DCPG. Weather hasn't been kind to us so we had postpone the shoot several times. Originally Cies and I came up with this cool crazy idea of doing balloons, and fruits but we ran out of time and thought it might be better if we wait to do that idea for her 6 month shoot. (yes she is going to have a lot of photos to look back to when she's older!)

Here are some photos I snapped of DCPG in action! so glad that Kaylee behaved really well during the shoot!

I am so happy with the photos!!! btw If you are in Virginia Beach area, they are having a photo booth special going on right now! They are a hit at weddings! They are also having a special $325 for a shoot + high resolution files..usually high res files are like $800, so it's a pretty good deal running til july 15th!

I'm Motivated!

Here is a little late recap of my weekend. I recently ran the CHKD 8K race (5 mile) My goal was to just run the whole thing without stopping and I am happy to say that I did it! It feels so good to set a goal and made it! Trust me, I hate running but because I am so motivated to get my pre-prego body back and with no time to gym..running is the best option for me. I usually get up around 5am and run a mile or more couple times a week if I'm not ~~lazy~~ tired. My next race is the 10k this October and I really want to do the Shamrock half marathon next March if I am ready.

I was kinda bummed that we didnt get to take any pix before the run so most of these are right after the race. The race was at 730AM so we were super tired and exhausted..oh and not to mention that it was in the 90s that day!!

My running partner! I don't think I can run the whole thing without her. (check out her engagement photos I did for her here!)

Hubby looking pretty tired..he beat me by 40 sec!!!

Baby Kaylee came and supported us! Although she slept through the whole race lol

Gained 41lbs during pregnancy..lost 33lbs..8 more to go!

We received a package last week that was addressed to Kaylee but we had no idea who it was from. They had ordered it from Etsy and only had the shop's address on there. Thanks to Fb, we found out who sent it to us (our friend back home-shout out to Jennifer, Tc and baby Adoree) and now I just can't wait for cooler weather so she can sport this awesome hat.

She is loving it too, look at her smiling!

This year, we are so thankful to have Kaylee join in with the furry babies. She is getting along so well with the dogs...wait for another few years, she is going to be chasing them around the house!

To me a father is someone who is there for us, guide us, protect us and chase all the bad boys away ;) I am so glad that my father fought all his might so we can have the life we have today.

I am blessed to have a wonderful man as my husband who I know will love his daughter unconditionally and definitely will chase all the bad boys away. Happy Father's day!

Since my little sister is in town this weekend, I haven't had much time to blog but just want to share some pictures before the weekend. This is her first time in the East Coast so we are probably going to take her to the beach and drive up DC to check out Georgetown and the white house.

Made pad thai for dinner last night. It was so delish and I'm not just saying that because it was my very first time ever making it but it's because hubby had 2 full plates. Before I left for work this morning, he said that by the time I come home, the pad thai might be gone...therefore I know it was delish=)

I got the recipe from a friend's sister but I saw that Lindsay from the Aisle to Aloha made some last week and posted the recipe on her blog.

I have gotten into 2 car accidents, got sued on both of them but didnt follow through because they were being greedy and lied about having back aches.

Growing up, I hated the shape of my eyes because people would always make fun of how small it is. Felt really inseure and I would wear a lot of eye makeup to hide it, but now I use makeup to enhance and embrace it.

I didn't smile with teeth until my early 20s because I thought I look awkward and cheesy when I smile with teeth :D

I have always had long hair, but last year I wanted something different. I told my friend to cut it shorter then normal but she went a little cutting happy and chopped off 10 inches of my hair! I cried and was depressed because I hated it. 6 months straight, I had my hair up in a pony tail and had to buy hair extensions.

I was born in Vietnam and our family moved to cold South Dakota when I was 9. I am currently in Virginia with my husband, baby and 3 dogs.

I am not afraid of spiders but worms scare the heck out of me.

Purple use to be my favorite color when I was young until my parents told me that purple is the color of sadness in the Vietnamese culture and didn't allow me to decorate my room with purple.

Number 9 hold a special place in my heart. I met my hubby in the month of September, both of our birthdays are in September and we got married on 09-09-09 (reception 09-12) I delivered Kaylee room 9 and we got to the hospital at 9am.

Parenthood

When I was pregnant with Kaylee, others had told me that my life is going to change completely and yes indeed it has. I no longer eat unhealthy food, yearn for material things, go see a movie together with my husband. My body will never be the same size as before and I can no longer sit around being lazy. It's a change that I choose to make, my lifestyle, my priorities have changed..heck even our bank account has too! But the huge difference then and now is that our lives is now filled with more love, more laughter, more meanings to life. Her laughter, her smile just melts our heart. I strive for more so that I can be a roll model for my child, someone she can look up to, someone she can hold deeply in her heart. I do things that I never thought I would do before (such as making all these headband she is sporting) My interest in photography, crafting, life, healthy living grew because of our sweet baby girl.

Will be making many more headbands for her!

I'm sure if you are a parent or soon-to-be, you probably feel the same way and if your not, you will experience this beautiful feeling later on in your life.

I cant help but take way too many photos of her!

It's going to be a hot summer, I can feel it! Weather has been in the 90s lately. I bought all these lemons for Kaylee's photoshoot but since we have to reschedule the shoot because of the rain, I love adding them in sweet tea. Oh I guess sweet tea is a east coast and southern thing because I never drink it when I was living in South Dakota. People just don't order a sweet tea when they go out to eat, they order a pop (soda)

I love that strawberries are so cheap in the summer! I don't like to eat them alone, I either dip it in with a lil salt or I like to spread Nutella on them :)

I love having fresh flowers at home.

So mint leaves grow like weeds! Our neighbor planted these for us in front of the house last Spring and they keep on growing. We now have unlimited supplies of mint leaves!

I love adding the mint leaves in spring rolls!

Can't have summer without fun nail colors with cute sandals. (these are Madden Girl sandals)

Sunglasses are must have for the summer..even for dogs! ( no? ok maybe just our dogs then)

I dont drink enough water so I make it up by eating lots of watermelon!

To the fair we go

I just love atmosphere of the fair, kids laughter, smell of yummy funnel cake, and all the bright beautiful colors! We had such great time at the fair even though Kaylee was asleep most of the time.

Due to rain and thunderstorm, we had to reschedule Kaylee's 3rd month photoshoot till next week, so look out for them! DCPG always do such a great job!

To take photos of my outfit that is..but I still need his help with laundry, dishes, cleaning etc :D...I just got myself a tripod and I'm loving it. Hubby is pretty good with taking my photos but he is usually not thrilled about it. Plus I can do whole bunch of weird poses with a tripod and not get the "my wife is weird" look on his face.

Bought wooden K at Michaels way back and finally got around to paint it with leftover paint from laundry room. I couldnt find any brushes so I had to use my old makeup brushes lol

Lil Miss Kaylee turned 13 weeks yesterday..this photoshoot I did of her is pure soft and angelic

Look at her eyes! she clearly did not get that from me.

Every month I have been taking putting her on this white chair and documenting her growth. She turned 3 months yesterday! My baby is growing so fast!

I have always love photography but never got serious with it until I had my baby girl about 3 months ago. See her lovely pictures here. I have been taking photos of Kaylee weekly and monthly and was never satisfied with the lighting..maybe because I pretty much just shoot in auto since I had no idea how to shoot in manual. Because of her, I was determined to learn so I can document everything precious of her. Oh and if your new to my blog, I recently I upgrade from Canon xsi to Canon t3i too! Love it!

Ok enough about my yapping..over the weekend I shot Diane and Billy's engagement photos and we had an awesome time! It was easy to capture them beautifully because they are a gorgeous couple! Hope you enjoy them!

I mentioned last week that I have never done an engagement shoot before..so I was really excited when Diane had asked me to shoot their photos. Here is just a little preview of the shoot today. Testing out my new camera (yes again) with Kaylee yesterday and got pretty awesome shots of her..so I just had to share! I have been shooting in Av mode (Aperture-priority) to get depth of field (blurred background and sharp foreground)

Here are some photos I took with my new camera Canon T3i. Love it but I still got so much to learn! Planning on reading the manual but haven't had much time to myself lately..busy busy mom!

Im amazed that my orchids are still alive! I got it from Hubby for Valentine's day and it's still growing strong. I normally kill all my plants and flowers after couple weeks.

Lately all I have been wearing to work is comfortable clothes..once in awhile I like to dress up and try to look ~~important~~ professional. I know honeysuckle is the 2011 color but so far I really like yellow. They should name yellow or mustard color for 2012 so I am all prepared..just saying..

On another subject I am saying farewell to my Canon xsi and hello MR. Canon T3i. I absolutely love my xsi but recently I have been videotaping Kaylee a lot and my xsi doesn't come with a camcorder. Been hinting the T3i to hubby for awhile and he finally got it for me for Mother's day.

T3i is very similar to the Canon 60D but a little bit cheaper, Cant wait to test this toy out! You know I will be taking a lot of pix of Kaylee with this bad boy
