19 Months and My Struggle with motherhood

Image
In my heart this week: My baby, my child, my life, I don’t ever want my Kaylee to grow up. She is at the perfect stage in life right now where she is constantly learning something new each day. Purely innocent, I want to treasure it all. The other day I read an article  on Huffington Post about a 14 year old girl that was charged with first degree murder and aggravated child abuse. A life so innocent, the girl’s life has not even started yet, but closing to an end. She probably didn't have anyone to turn to and thought she could get away with hiding her pregnancy. My heart aches for the family. Today on the radio, the discussion was about birth control battle on a program that distributes Plan B contraception and birth control to high school girls. It got me very worried that one day I will have to have the talk with Kaylee. I am glad that I still have so many more wonderful years to spend with my baby girl. Each day I try to steer away from all the negative news, but sometimes

over the weekend...

Kaylee turned 18 months. She is so quick on her feet and can maneuver an ipad like it's her own. Always smiling but can fake a good cry. These 18 months has been a bliss but that is going to change soon! Potty training coming right up! This is something hubby and I have been dreading but can't wait to save money on diapers! I think it's going to be interesting and also nerve recking for K and I. Any feedbacks would be greatly appreciated! Over the weekend we did our 2nd annual grape picking, my all time favorite fruit to pick! Muscadine grapes has this tangy, sweet juicy flavor that is so addicting! We ended up with 16 lbs of grapes and already planning our next trip back to stock up. I am done with the hot and humid weather. Can Fall please come a bit sooner! Have you gone grape picking? I highly recommend it! :) Have a great day!

Photography Tips: Photographing Eyes

Image
In photos I am very drawn subject's eyes. They are the window to the soul and I like for them to stand out. When photographing Kaylee I focus on her eyes since that is the first thing people notice when looking at a photograph. It also give the illusion that she has nice big sparkly eyes. To get the eyes to be crisp and clear, make sure you have a lot natural lighting available. If you are indoor make sure to place your subject by a window. I am very fortunately to have a big window in our master bedroom. I take all of Kaylee's room in there and have her look 45 degree angle toward the window. Using a reflector would also bounce a lot of light into the subject's eyes. Before Kaylee could sit up I use a white towel as a back drop so it can catch a little light from the window.  The best way to get your child's attention is hold a toy that he/she has not seen yet. It can even be your makeup brush or whatever you find in your purse. (The camera lens always doe

little snips of our weekend

It's always a nice little surprise when I get to see her during work hours, Kaylee joined me for lunch last Friday. Love her polka dots dress from her Auntie Michelle The weekend was filled with happy times and good company. I love talking a little stroll along the boardwalk now that it's not as humid. We hardly ever go to the beach even though we live 20 minutes away. Trying to enjoy ever last drop of summer before we welcome my favorite season, Fall! I have been on a reading steak lately, I finish Sophie Kinsella new book " I've Got Your Number " over the weekend and really enjoyed it! It's funny, witty and romantic:) Have you read any good books..any recommendations? Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
