Hello Washington..DC

Happy Monday!! This post is long overdue; we took a family road trip to Washington DC a couple weeks ago when my sister and her friend was in town. Traveling with a baby was interesting since we have to navigate on-the-go naps and make sure she's in a good mood throughout the trip. We visited the Holocaust, which was a pretty powerful memorial museum, just wish it wasn't so crowded! We had good time eating out at Eden Center in Falls Church, meeting Cee To Brighten My Day and did some shopping in Georgetown. The traffic in DC is just plain horrible! :X The highlight of the night was watching Manny Pacquiao fight on our ipad while facetiming our friend since we didn't have HBO in our hotel room :D Good time.

Our next family trip is traveling to Minneapolis to visit Kaylee's godparents and grandparents! Any good tips on traveling on a plane with a baby?

  1. It looks like you guys had a great time. It's been such a long time since we flew with Sae (since she was 1) but are planning on taking some trips this winter so hopefully you have some tips for me by then :)

  4. Nothing says welcome to D.C. like the traffic! I still have not been to the Holocaust museum. Like you said, it's ALWAYS so crowded!

And I go to Eden center like once a year because it's alway super busy on Saturdays (I was just there over the weekend).

Glad you had a good time though. Maybe next time you come back we can schedule a playdate at Eden center. Or if we ever make it down to VA beach.

    Have a great week!

  5. Loved all the pics! I miss VA and DC!
Hmm.. 1 tip i always follow while flying with my baby is let her run around and tire her out completely before boarding so that she sleeps on the flight and so far it has worked out well for us.

  7. Amazing you got that shot of the Washington Monument with a 50mm. I have such trouble getting whole bldgs with my 50mm! The family photo is so cute trying to get Kayla to look at the camera. I love Kayla resting on your chest! She is a such a cute cute girl! Love that curious expression on her face. Great job navigating around naps -- that's the worst part about going out. I haven't flown with baby yet -- but from what I see at airports, it's best to have as few bags as possible (duh!) and a portable/quick fold stroller if you're bringing one. I've also heard bring lots of milk, snacks, and little toys to keep her busy. Good luck!

  9. That first picture of you holding your little girl is SO sweet. I have 0 tips for traveling with a baby. We just got back from a 5 hour away car trip with my 3 year old and 8 month old and I thought to myself, "Why did we do this?!" (I think that every single time we take a trip too.) It just isn't easy with a baby! But sometimes you just have to do it anyway. Drink some wine, that will help.

  14. What a cutie pie!! I avoided traveling with babies at all costs, lol! My son is now 4 and I still hate to travel with him!i took each of my kids on one trip while they were around 2, but it was short flights between islands. Can't imagine what longer trips with layovers might be like!

You daughter looked like she was a pretty happy traveller!

  15. My brother is going to DC next month! It looks like you had a great time and I love Kaylee's little pig tails! The last time I went to DC it was a day trip, so I didn't get a chance to see the other museums, just the Smithsonian.
